Here endeth 2013
A fair amount has happened this year, but at the same time it feels like the year has passed me by in the blink of an eye. From buying and moving in to a flat in London, to going to Paris to meet someone who’s made a bigger difference to my attitude and my photography than anyone else to date, this year has featured several significant shifts in my life. I could go into them in detail, but I don’t want to or feel the need. For the first time ever I have no desire to pore over everything that happened in the past twelve months.
That’s not to say I’m not grateful for everything that happened, both good and bad. I had some fantastic experiences this year and I met some amazing people, some of whom I’m very happy to now consider friends. I’ve travelled a lot more than I ever have before, including Morocco, Majorca and Paris, and I’ve done my usual trips around the UK, including a week in Scotland, a long weekend in Stockport, a few days in Wales, and a week in Devon.
I’ve developed my creativity, my confidence and my businesses. I’ve achieved a lot in twelve short months, and I’m very proud of that, but I have big aspirations for next year.
I’m planning a few more workshops (several abroad), a lot of photoshoots, better health, more energy, more creativity development, more experimentation, more socialising, more laughter, more financial stability, more deliberate choices, more deliberate living.
The main thing I did that worked last year was deciding to follow my nose, wherever it may lead. The best example is that I followed it after I saw an image by Andrew Appleton of Jen Brook in front of the Eiffel Tower, and it led me to Paris where I met them both, and then on to Stockport where I met Lauri Laukkanen, and let him take a photo of me after Jen put a fried breakfast on my head! And that whole adventure ultimately led to me conceiving, planning and producing my first conceived and planned image, “Three’s a crowd”:
So, if you want me to do something next year? Grab my nose and pull!
Happy new year, y’all!
